The term “clean beauty” describes cosmetics or skincare items free of “harmful” components. Or, to put it another way, “clean beauty” means choosing “natural” skincare products over those with added chemicals. The term “clean beauty” is mostly unregulated because there isn’t actually anything “clean” about it, and every manufacturer will define it slightly differently. Simply said, clean beauty products are ones that are created without substances that have in the past been thought to be harmful to human health.

The most often used components in beauty products that are of concern and should be avoided include parabens, fragrances, aluminium compounds, refined petroleum, hydroquinone, talc, silica, and oxybenzone.
While parabens are a class of preservatives that stop mould and harmful germs from growing in your beauty products, paraben exposure through cosmetics poses major health risks.
An appealing scent is created by adding fragrances to beauty products. yet it can also set off asthma and allergy problems.
However, due to accumulation over time, probably from cosmetics, refined petrolatum, a commonly used moisturising ingredient derived from petroleum, is the greatest pollutant found in the human body.
Hydroquinone, a topical bleaching chemical present in skin-lightening lotions and serums, has been connected to a number of malignancies.

However, switching to an ‘all-natural’ product can also be harmful to the skin and it might be injurious to the skin barrier. In one of the recent articles on Harper’s Bazaar, aesthetician Kristina Holey explains, “When it comes to synthetics versus natural, there are certain cases where a synthetic will not only prove to be ‘cleaner,’ but provide results in a more effective way than a non-isolated natural compound that is not 100 per cent pure.”

Clean beauty is a tricky subject. Although the industry is full with false information, it has also normalised wearing less makeup. It has undoubtedly resulted in us accepting our skin-related flaws.
