At the Golden Horse Film Awards on Saturday, Chang Chin-family lin’s drama “Coo-Coo 043,” which is set in Taiwan against the backdrop of pigeon racing, won the best film. In addition, the Hong Kong-produced criminal thriller “Limbo,” which was directed by Soi Cheang, won four honours.

In addition to receiving 13 nominations for its Chang Chin-lin-directed film “Coo-Coo 043,” Hu Jhih-ciang took home the best new performer prize. A day earlier, the movie won the Fipresci prize at the Golden Horse Film Festival. It has also been chosen as the opening film of the 2022 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.

Following “The Island That All Flow By,” Chan Ching-lin directed “Coo-Coo 043.” Along with Golden Harvest Award’s best new performer Hu Jhih-ciang and up-and-coming new talent Rimong Ihwar, it features Golden Bell Award winners Yu An-shun and Yang Li-yin.

While Coo-Coo 043 took home the highest honour, Limbo received the most awards as it earned the TGHFF audience choice award in addition to prizes for best cinematography, best visual effects, best art direction, and best-adapted script. The inquiry into a serial killer is the focus of the Hong Kong film noir “Limbo,” which took home Friday night’s non-competition Golden Horse Audience Choice Award in Taipei.
