You’ve probably seen stunning models walk the runway at fashion events that feature apparel, jewellery, footwear, or accessories. Even in modern times, the globe is awash with fashion. Nearly everywhere fashion shows are hosted ranging in scale from local to worldwide levels. But today, we’ll tell you about a unique fashion event in history.

The underwater fashion event in the 1950s

There are many different kinds of fashion shows that take place all around the world. When we think of fashion shows, we typically picture gorgeous models, dazzling ramps, auditoriums filled with celebrities, music, lighting, and sparkling outfits and jewellery. These are occasionally performed in support of a social cause, but they are also occasionally fascinating fashion events. Even children these days have their own fashion shows for kidswear, where they walk on the ramps. Similarly, there was the idea of an underwater fashion show when models performed a runway display while being in the water.

This was one of the first underwater fashion shows, held in Florida in 1954 to demonstrate how waterproof the new Orlon coats were. Still, despite wearing the coats, the models naturally arrived drenched in water. In this event, a few models gradually enter the water, and a different camera is used by an underwater cinematographer to record the entire underwater fashion parade.
