In the Los Angeles trial, the jury convicted Canadian rapper Tory Lanez guilty of all three charges linked to the roadside shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. Tory was found guilty of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm, assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and felony negligent discharge of a firearm.

The 30-year-old Canadian, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of all three firearms-related felonies, but Lanez had, according to prosecutors, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, transporting a loaded unregistered firearm inside a moving vehicle, and discharge with great care.

Megan Thee Stallion, a Grammy-winning rapper who is 27 years old, claimed Lanez shot her in the feet after they left a party in the Hollywood Hills at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020. The rapper also claimed Lanez became upset after she criticised his musical ability. She sustained injuries to her feet, which she blamed on gunfire fired by Peterson.

After the verdict, Megan was lauded by the district attorney, George Gascón, who said, “You showed incredible courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve.” He continued and added, “You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face.”
