Knowing your skin’s undertone can help you select makeup products that go best with your complexion, and a lot of this is dependent on it. Whether you have a cool or warm undertone or another undertone, it refers to the natural hues beneath the surface of your skin. Here are some of the ways with the help of which you can help yourself to know your skin’s undertone.

Different ways to check skin undertone

Understanding your skin’s undertone is essential to selecting the ideal foundation and colour palettes for your hue.

If your skin burns easily or tans to rosy, deep cinnamon, or reddish shades, you probably have a cool undertone. However, if your skin tans to peach, golden, caramel, or olive undertones, you probably have a warm undertone. If your skin seems to burn or tan equally frequently, you might have a neutral undertone.

Another approach to determine your undertone is to hold up a piece of printer paper over your skin in a room with plenty of natural light and observe if your skin appears pinkish, yellow, or devoid of any undertone at all. If it is pinkish, you have a cool undertone and yellow means a warm undertone. However, if you see no undertone at all, it means it is neutral.
