Malawi, originally known as Nyasaland, is a landlocked nation in Southeast Africa that is bordered by Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique. The Chewa people that live in the area go by the name Maravi, which is how Malawi got its name. Malawi is also known as “The Warm Heart of Africa.” Fashion Malawi Edition, often known as “F.A.M.E,” is the first organisation in Malawi to hold a significant fashion week and other events as the fashion landscape becomes increasingly multipolar in the twenty-first century.

The first organisation in Malawi dedicated to promoting and growing the local fashion industry is called Fashion Malawi Edition, or “F.A.M.E.” Fashion Malawi Edition was established in 2010 by Zilanie Gondwe Nyundo and Inge Knapen with the goal of establishing a fashion business in Malawi. Through professional development training and capacity building, the organisation promotes and grows the Malawian fashion sector. It was established after spotting gaps in a previously underdeveloped industry and is now Malawi’s top fashion organisation and a pioneer in the country’s fashion sector. They frequently host national fashion shows in Malawi. They are also credited for developing an industry that gave Malawian enterprises involved in fashion room to expand, and in November 2012, they launched the first “Malawi Fashion Week.”
