The semi-annual São Paulo Fashion Week is known as “Latin America’s preeminent fashion event” and is a trade fair for clothes. It is one of the newly established fashion weeks outside of the Big Four of New York, London, Paris, and Milan, but it has generated controversy in the past due to a long-standing preference for white models. As a result, quotas were put in place that required 10% of models to be “black or indigenous” to promote equality.
