Here’s how you can hide private photos on iPhone or iPad.

1. Using the photos app

The most basic and simple way is to hide the photo using Apple’s own Photos app. A lot of you might already know that there’s an option to hide a particular photo, which then disappears from your ‘Recents’ album, and is moved to a ‘Hidden’ album.

This Hidden album is only a couple of scrolls away from being found in the Photos app. But, what many of you might not be aware of is that there’s a way to hide this Hidden album. Head over to Settings, scroll down till you find the Photos menu, and on the next page, disable the button besides ‘Hidden Album’.

2. Password-protected Notes

Another way of hiding these photos is by using Apple’s Notes app. It allows you to create a password-protected note that can have endless pages of your private photos.

Once in the Notes app, create a new note, and give it a non-conspicuous title (probably not a good idea to call it ‘My Nudes’). Once created, tap the ‘Camera’ icon, and select the ‘Choose Photo or Video’ option.

Once you’ve added the photos, tap on the three dots in the top-right corner, and in the pop-up menu, tap the ‘Lock’ button. You can later on use a password to lock the note, or use Face ID or Touch ID to lock/unlock the note.

3. Using third-party apps

If you don’t like the above steps, you can also take the help of third-party apps. There are various ‘decoy’ apps that are designed with only one thing in mind – stashing things that you do not want to be found. One of the best ones we found is called Calculator+.

This app replicates the default Apple Calculator app in every way from icon design, UI, and it also calculates. But it has a secret vault that can only be opened by entering a special numerical code that you’ve set followed by the % symbol.

Popular apps like Google Photos too let you hide your private photos. On Google Photos, you can use the Archive option to hide individual photos or videos. Open the photo or video you want to hide, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, and then Archive.
