Akash Ambani was born into one of India’s richest families on October 23, 1991. He is the eldest son of Mukesh Ambani, has a twin sister Isha Ambani and a younger brother, Anant Ambani. In 2019, Akash Ambani married Shloka Mehta in a grand wedding. The couple has a son named Prithvi.
He completed his schooling from Mumbai’s Dhirubhai Ambani International School, which was built by Reliance Industries and named after Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of the conglomerate. Akash’s mother Nita Ambani is the current chairperson of the school. After completing school, Akash Ambani went to the United States where he pursued a major in Economics at Brown University.
Akash Ambani joined Reliance Industries soon after graduating in 2014. A couple of years later, he was named as the non-executive director and head of strategy at Reliance Jio. He led key acquisitions made by Jio in the digital space and also played a big role in the launch of the JioPhone in 2017 and in RIL’s $5.7 billion deal with Meta in 2020.
Akash Ambani also co-owns the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians along with his father and mother. Mumbai Indians is the most successful IPL team with five titles.
